Florian Satzinger: Horse Power - Inspire Your Design

Working with reference material: The horse skull's shape and details were useful references for the design of this jet bike. Even you can't see the horse skull in the final rendering, it's there.

The way you draw machinery is amazing!!! I love how you have tons of details but you design and organize it in such a nice way.

This is brilliant, great way to jump start any design.

This is very interesting, taking an organic element and using it to design a mechanical one...great

That's a nifty idea, definitely want to try it out. Thanks for sharing.

how did you use this piece of reference? did you actually have it under the drawing while you were drawing.. or was it more like.. having seen it first.. and then draw based on what you remembered?

:) Thanks Rad, many thanks!

Mike, I'm "obsessed" with reference material - it informs my design work in many ways. Thanks!!

Andrew, thank you! Right, organic informs machine - I like proceeding this way as it gives me more control, I think.

Ben! Hope it will work for you too... :)

Brian, I had the anatomy sheet right beside the drawing.

Abraham! Cheers!

Fantastic . . . you're work is so individually amazing and friendly to boot. I have watched your work for many years now and have an even greater appreciation for your process that gleams gems like these two.

Best and thanks for posting,

This is what good design is. Thematically and conceptually it is very well thought out. Whereas it could look have looked "slapped together", the research made it look organic and believable. Great post.

process is quite unique.....I am on board with Andrew's post, using an organic base to design a technical mechanical object. Like using beetles for spaceship design
