Brian Wong: Drawing videos

Hey everyone, a couple more drawing videos.. I think there's one more left that's being processed.. and after that.. I'll try and make some new ones.. where there'll actually be some kind of commentary on them.

Edit: Here's video 007 as well!

Very nice to see how you would approach doing quick studies from life. Helps me to remember not to get too tight and just let it flow.

Thanks !. Gesture Drawing and studies are great to further get the best expresion in characters!. Right now I spend all time with my skethbook for life drawing in college, this videos really inspires me to keep practicing. The most dificult for me its capture movement. Any advice?

@Vanmotion sorry for the late response.. I think it comes down to finding an easy way to put down what you see... that's why i often times i like to use simple lines or big shapes.. because it enables you to put down a lot of information quickly.. but different people have different methods.. to me it comes down on how much you can remember of the whole.. and how you can put that down.... sometimes i believe it's difficult to get everything down at once... so to make it easier maybe start with a simple big relationship first.. like the three forms.. head torso and pelvis... then start adding complexity.. often i look for lines which will take up a large part of the figure... for example.. a line from the head.. to a foot.. or maybe an arm to another arm... .. when i first started doing a lot of gesture drawing.. i was following glen villpu's method.. he has a good book on it.. as well as articles on animation world network.. that would be a good read.. hope that helps..

(i believe that mu current method... is a simplification/shortcut method... which has arisen from a number of hours of practice.. often to make things easier it's useful to break up something into smaller steps.. and then master each step and combine it..)

Seeing your method of drawing is really inspiring! It's sketchy, but so much fun. I think this just helped me out of some nasty artist block, so thank you!
